Travelling from Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) to Mirissa takes approximately 3 to 3½ hours by car, depending on traffic and road conditions. The Southern Expressway offers the most convenient route towards the south.
Private Car: The Most Convenient Option
A private car or taxi is the most comfortable way to travel directly from the airport to Ayu by TARA. Reputable taxi services and ride-hailing options are available from the airport.
Express Bus
For a more economical journey, express buses operate towards Matara. From Matara, Mirissa is approximately 15 km away and can be reached by tuk-tuk or taxi.
Train
For a more scenic experience, trains from Colombo Fort to Matara travel along Sri Lanka’s southern coastline. From Matara, a short tuk-tuk or taxi ride will bring you to Mirissa.
